Dear Mom,

You are my hero. You have been through the toughest experience that a person can face, the loss of a child. While it took many years to process all of your grief, you found a way forward. You will never be the same after losing your son. You will always be sad about his loss. But, you learned to smile again and found a way to experience joy anew. Your experience taught you to cherish every moment with your grandchildren and you were able to give them the gift of always being fully present.

I respect the enormous strength of your spirit and I am grateful to have you as my mother.
